If you are here, you are actually looking for something informative and inspirational out of this blog. Well, lucky for you, I am not just funny and pretty, but I make a mean drink too! And because I am a caring and generous human being, who just happens to be really funny and pretty at the same time, I guess I will share some recipes with you.
DECEMBER 2014 DRINK OF THE MONTH
Just in time for Christmas (yup, I said “Christmas”)…
The CANDYCANE MARTINI
This martini is quick and easy and sure to be a hit!
Red raspberry syrup (schmukers plate scrapers brand works best)
Prep martini glass with raspberry syrup. Place tip of syrup bottle in bottom of glass and with slow even pressure squeeze as you swirl up to the rim.
Starting from rim to base causes syrup to run and streak glass.
1) fill cocktail shaker with ice
2) add 3.5oz peppermint liqueur, 1oz cream, 3 drops sambuca
3) shake vigorously until well chilled
4) strain into martini glass
5) garnish with candy cane
Come visit me at The Horseshoe Grille – I’ll make one for you.
JULY 2014 DRINK OF THE MONTH
Summer time drinks should be refreshing and thirst quenching.
This drink does just that. But beware, it is easy to drink thru each one fast and furious!
3 Lemon Wheels, thinly sliced
2tsps Granulated Sugar
Soda Water, I used flavored (mixed berry)
Drop berries, sugar and lemon wheels in glass
Muddle well, making sure berries are well mashed
Pack on the ice
Shake, Shake, Shake
Now top with soda water and ENJOY!
Play around with the recipe. Use a variety of fresh berries or melon. Swap in lime for lemon. Swap in silver tequila for vodka.
Have fun in the sun!
APRIL’S DRINK OF THE MONTH
April is now upon us and winter is releasing her grip. With spring comes a new cocktail menu at the (shameless plug alert) HORSESHOE GRILLE.
Being a restaurant that features BBQ and gluten-free menu options, I took the opportunity to marry the two for a unique and flavorful cocktail.
This is a gin lovers dream. Not only does it wake up your mouth, it brings your nose to the party too. As you draw the glass to your lips , the smell of BBQ fills your nose. The biting taste of gin and lime is mellowed by the agave syrup and jazzed up by the smoked paprika.
SMOKEY WATERS (old fashion glass, smoked paprika rim)
Rim glass, fill with ice, set aside
In shaker w ice:
1 lime wedge squeeze
½ oz agave syrup
2 pinches of smoked paprika
Shake and strain into prepped glass
I first discovered this smokey treat on the simplygluten-free.com website. I made some slight modifications to their Ginebra Gimlet.
